Beta · Privacy-first portfolio

Your portfolio.
Your choice.

Folanza is a privacy-first multi-asset tracker — for crypto, stocks and precious metals. You decide the first time you open it how your data is stored: fully local on your device or synced via your own cloud account. Either way it stays under your control, with no trackers.

Beta — already usable and growing steadily. Runs right in the browser on desktop, tablet and mobile. One app, every device — optionally installable as a PWA.

The full feature set

More inside than you think.

Folanza is not a stripped-down tracker. Four asset classes, German tax-free status (§ 23), your own journal — and uncompromising data control. All in one app, with no forced account.

Portfolio & analysis

  • Four asset classes — crypto, stocks, ETFs and precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium) in one app.
  • Profit & loss, realized and unrealized, FIFO-accurate per purchase lot.
  • Performance, return and allocation over any time range — including allocation over time.
  • Price charts as line, candles or pro chart; plus market cap and trading volume over time.
  • What-if calculator for a lump sum and a recurring plan (DCA).
  • Multiple portfolios — individually or as a combined view across all.
  • Fully customizable: sort or hide tiles and sections in the asset detail.

Prices & watchlist

  • Live prices from fixed, clearly named sources per asset class — without your own API keys.
  • Watchlist across all asset classes, with custom labels, sorting and filters.
  • Price alerts that notify you at your threshold.
  • Asset profile with description, links and community sentiment (bullish/bearish).

Security & data ownership

  • Local AES-256 encryption with your passphrase, right in the browser.
  • App lock via passphrase or 4-digit PIN.
  • Biometric unlock: fingerprint, Face ID or Windows Hello.
  • Privacy mode: blur your values at the tap of a button.
  • Backups rotating locally — and encrypted in your own cloud (sync mode).
  • Import & export as JSON or CSV, plus CSV import from Bitvavo, Bitpanda, Coinbase, Kraken and Trade Republic.
  • Optional read-only sync with your exchange (currently Bitvavo) — opt-in, never auto-sync.

Personal & everywhere

  • Journal per asset: notes, tags and images right on the coin.
  • Strategies and a daily sentiment rating per coin.
  • Display currency of your choice: euro, US dollar, franc or pound.
  • German and English, light and dark design, your own accent color.
  • Accessible: adjustable text size, contrast and reduced motion.
  • Demo portfolio to try risk-free — runs offline, on any device.

Two modes

You decide
where your data lives.

Folanza does both — fully local or conveniently synced via your own cloud account. The first time you open it, you choose what fits you.

Convenience by default.
Your cloud, your keys.

The better choice for most people: Folanza syncs an encrypted backup via your own cloud account — either Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. Switching devices happens automatically, Folanza never sees the plaintext. Only you hold the key.

Where your data lives
Encrypted in your own cloud account — Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive, you choose. Folanza holds no plaintext, the key stays with you.
Switching devices
Automatic. Open the app on the new device, connect your cloud account, enter your passphrase — done.
What you need
A Google or Microsoft account (both free). Which one is up to you — both work equally well. Folanza itself stays free.
Who it's for
Anyone who wants to use Folanza on laptop, phone and tablet in parallel and doesn't want to handle backups and exports themselves.

Maximum privacy.
Zero third parties.

For power users with a clear privacy stance and their own backup workflow. Everything stays in the browser on your device — no sign-up, no account, no cloud connection. You are the only interface and handle export and device changes yourself.

Where your data lives
Exclusively in your browser's local storage. Optionally also encrypted in the local vault (AES-256-GCM).
Switching devices
You export manually as JSON or CSV and import on the new device. You keep full data ownership; no one sees the transfer.
What you need
Just a browser. No sign-up, no account, no account with us or third parties. Plus your own system for backups.
Who it's for
Privacy maximalists and power users who deliberately track their portfolio on a single main device and know exactly what they're doing.

Whichever mode you choose: the default path is without an exchange connection — you import transactions manually or via CSV. If you want convenience, you can optionally add a read-only API key per exchange; the app then syncs at the press of a button. Default: off.

Whichever mode you choose

Three promises.
Non-negotiable.

Whether local mode or sync mode — these three properties never change. They're what sets Folanza apart from most portfolio apps that trade "easy" for your data.

Account sync is opt-in only

By default you import manually or via CSV — the app fetches price data anonymously through an edge proxy. If you want to sync with an exchange, you add a read-only API key per exchange (no wallet connect, no trading, no withdrawals). Default: off. If you don't want it, you never see it.

Local encryption

AES-256-GCM with your passphrase, right in the browser. Even a cloud backup only leaves encrypted — no one but you can get in.

No tracking

No Google Analytics. No Sentry. No pixel. Open the network tab and see for yourself. We don't make money from your data.

Nothing hidden

What we fetch.
What your device computes.

With Folanza you always know what the app sends to the network — and what stays entirely on your device. Here's the honest split; all the details are in the expandable lists for those who are curious.

Fetched live

Market data only — without your personal details. Requests run through our proxy: providers see neither your IP, nor your holdings, nor your amounts.

  • Prices for crypto, stocks, ETFs and precious metals
  • Price history & charts over all time ranges
  • Logos for your assets
Sources & details for pros

Source per data type

  • Crypto — CoinGecko: spot prices, price history, OHLC candles, market cap and 24h trading volume, coin search, profile data (description, links, genesis date, developer metrics), community sentiment (bull/bear votes, watchlist popularity), coin logos and historical prices for the what-if calculator.
  • Stocks & ETFs — Twelve Data: prices and daily change.
  • Precious metals — gold-api.com: spot prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
  • Exchange rates — frankfurter.app: current and historical ECB reference rates (EUR, USD, CHF, GBP).
  • Logos — DuckDuckGo for providers and brokers.

All market requests go through our edge proxy — the provider sees our server's IP, not your own, and never your holdings or amounts. Only which prices are requested is sent, not who they belong to.

Optional and only on your click: an encrypted cloud backup in your own Google Drive or OneDrive (always just an encrypted blob) and the read-only exchange sync (currently Bitvavo). With the exchange sync the exchange does see your IP for technical reasons — which is why it's off by default and never runs automatically in the background.

A second openly-stated exception: if you buy the optional Pro membership, your payment and contact details are handled by our payment provider Lemon Squeezy — separately from your portfolio data, which stays local.

Computed on your device

Everything that has to do with your wealth is computed locally by your browser. These numbers never leave your device.

  • Holdings plus profit & loss
  • Performance, return & allocation
  • Tax figures: holding period and realization
  • Portfolio value over time
What exactly is computed

Holdings & profit/loss

  • Holdings & cost basis per asset via FIFO lots, including average entry price.
  • Profit and loss, realized and unrealized — per position and for the whole portfolio.
  • Key figures: amount invested, current value, total fees, quantity.

Performance, return & allocation

  • Return and performance over all time ranges, plus daily movers (the day's gainers and losers).
  • Allocation by asset, asset class and provider — also over time.
  • Histories: portfolio value, unrealized profit/loss, share per asset, highs and lows.

Tax (Germany)

  • § 23 holding period per lot — with the date from which a sale becomes tax-free.
  • Tax-free share over time.

Income & simulation

  • Staking, rewards and lending income totaled up.
  • The what-if calculator for a lump sum and a recurring plan.
  • Currency conversion — historically accurate to the respective date.

In addition, these stay local only (optionally encrypted in the vault): your transactions, strategies per coin, the journal (notes, tags, images), your own daily sentiment rating, price alerts, custom labels and the watchlist.

No tracking, no analytics, no pixel. Open your browser's network tab — you'll see exactly these requests and nothing else.

Platform-independent

One app.
Every device.

Folanza runs right in the browser — on desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone. Identical features, automatically fitting layout. You need no two versions, no app-store account, no install.

Desktop & laptop

The full app in the browser — charts, tables and large overviews use the whole screen. Keyboard input, mouse hover, multi-window workflow.

Tablet

The touch layout adapts automatically. Mouse, stylus or finger — switch any time. Same app, different input, same data.

Smartphone

PWA-installable on Android and iOS. A home-screen icon like a native app, a service worker for offline reading. No app-store download needed.

Moving between your devices: in local mode via JSON or CSV export, in sync mode automatically via your own cloud account.

For Germany

German holding period?
Folanza does the math.

Folanza knows § 23 EStG by heart. Per FIFO lot you know from when a tax-free sale is possible — and at year-end, what you've actually realized.

Important: Folanza is not tax advice. The features below help you understand your numbers — but they don't replace a tax advisor or individual advice.

365

Day holding period per lot

FIFO calculation per lot: every single purchase lot shows you the date the speculation period ends. No mental arithmetic on December 31.

§ 23

Annual realization cleanly separated

Folanza separates tax-relevant short-term sales (< 1 year) from long-term, tax-free realizations. You see at a glance what belongs in which bucket.

In three steps.

  1. 1

    Choose a mode

The first time you open it, you decide: local mode (everything on your device) or sync mode — encrypted via your own Google or Microsoft account, for moving between devices.

  2. 2

    Import your data

Upload a CSV export from your exchange or enter transactions manually — optionally also automatically per exchange via a read-only key. In both modes, you alone control what the app sees.

  3. 3

    Get started

In local mode you export manually when switching devices. In sync mode Folanza handles it, encrypted via your own cloud account — you keep the key.

Optional · from launch

Folanza Pro.

The free version stays fully usable forever and tracking-free. Pro unlocks a few convenience features at launch — as a subscription at €4.99/month (cancellable monthly).

  • Multiple portfolios instead of one — e.g. personal, family and strategy kept separate.
  • Tax-free chart — see how your tax-free share develops over time.
  • Continuously up-to-date prices (free: updated once a day).

Not purchasable yet — Folanza is currently in beta, and Pro arrives at the public launch on 31 August 2026. No account needed; payment will later be handled by our payment provider, and your portfolio data stays local.

Frequently asked questions.

Which mode is right for me?

Sync mode is the better choice for most people and our recommendation. Folanza stores an encrypted blob in your own cloud account — either Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. Only you hold the passphrase; Folanza never sees the plaintext. Switching devices and backups happen automatically — you don't have to worry about a thing.

Local mode is the power-user option for everyone who has their own backup workflow under control and deliberately wants no cloud connection. All data stays in your browser's local storage — no sign-up, no account. You handle switching devices yourself via JSON/CSV export onto a stick or your own cloud. If you're not sure what that means, sync mode is the safer choice.

The first time you open the app, Folanza asks which mode fits you — the decision is 100% yours.

When does Folanza launch officially?

The official public launch is on August 31, 2026. Until then Folanza runs as a beta — you can already use the app in full, every feature is active and stable. During the beta we polish the last details and incorporate tester feedback. There are no limits at all on data or features compared to the later full version.

What does Folanza cost?

Folanza is free at its core. The base app with all core features — portfolio tracking, manual and CSV import, local encryption — stays free forever and without tracking. At launch the optional Pro variant comes as a subscription at €4.99/month (cancellable monthly); it unlocks, among others, multiple portfolios, the tax-free chart and continuously up-to-date prices. There's no forced account and no trial month that quietly turns into a subscription.

Where is my data stored?

On your device, in the browser's local storage. If you've enabled the app lock, sensitive data is additionally encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Cloud backup is optional and always sends only the encrypted blob — neither we nor your cloud provider see the plaintext.

What happens if I lose my passphrase?

The data is lost. There is no master key, no reset, no back door. That's the price of real encryption — and the only way to give you control. So feel free to keep multiple backups of your backup files.

Does Folanza work offline?

Yes, completely after the first load. Live prices obviously need a connection, but all stored data, calculations, charts and features run without one.

Which devices are supported?

Folanza is a browser-based app and runs on all current devices — desktop, laptop, tablet and smartphone. You only need a current browser; a native app install is not required.

On mobile you can optionally add Folanza to your home screen as a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it then behaves like a native app, including offline reading via the service worker. Unlike many classic tracker apps, you need no separate desktop version and no second app: the same code, the same layout system, identical features on every device.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari — desktop and mobile. Installable as a Progressive Web App on iOS and Android (add to home screen).

Is Folanza open source?

Not currently. We're considering a later open-source step once the codebase and architecture have stabilized.

Where does Folanza get its prices?

Crypto prices come from CoinGecko, stocks and ETFs from Twelve Data, precious metals from gold-api.com — a fixed, clearly named source per asset class. You don't need to add any API keys of your own. All requests run through our edge proxy, which shields your IP from the providers.
